Program Overview
The Mitchell Kapor Foundation is partnering with the David Brower Center to provide five key partner organizations with the chance to use the facility for a one-day event in 2011. This includes things like staff retreats, board meetings, and larger events as well. There are zero slots remaining. Space rental will be free of charge, but selected organizations will be responsible for all event production costs - including food and beverage, decor, etc. Priority is given to organizations with budgets of $500,000 or below who have never used the Brower Center before.
One of the Bay Area’s most advanced green buildings, the nonprofit David Brower Center is an inspiring home for environmental and social action, combining both offices and program facilities in a 50,000 square-foot space. The Brower Center offers intimate and grand event spaces with the highest “green” rating available. It’s perfect for a wide range of private and public events, including fundraisers, conferences, receptions, classes, ceremonies, meetings and presentations and is located at 2150 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA. In addition to onsite public parking, the Center is two blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART station and multiple bus lines.
Rental Process
These slots are made available on a first-come-first-served basis. All events are subject to Brower Center schedule availability. To see if a desired date is available prior to submitting our Rental Inquiry Form, please contact the Brower Center directly:

Once you have confirmed an available date, please fill out our Rental Inquiry Form. Note: A date will not be held or reserved until a Rental Inquiry Form has been submitted to the Kapor Foundation and approved. The link for the form is available at the bottom of this page. Forms should be submitted one to three months prior to the desired date of the event.

What is NOT covered under this Kapor Foundation - Brower Center agreement?
This agreement covers the rental of the venue and Brower Center staff support for AV and security only .
All key partner organizations are responsible for their own food and beverage costs and costs of additional decorative items (like table cloths, flowers, etc.). It is your responsibility to adhere to Brower Center Green Catering Guidelines if you are planning on providing food and beverage at your event.

What happens after I submit a Rental Inquiry Form?
Once you have submitted a Rental Inquiry Form, a representative from the Brower Center will contact you regarding event details. They will require you to submit the following:
• A signed copy of the Brower Center's License & Use Agreement
• A Security Deposit of $250. A Security Deposit is used if an event requires a) excessive cleaning beyond the scope of normal maintenance, or b) repairs or replacement due to structural or equipment damage, the security deposit in-part or in-total may be used to pay for these services. The security deposit may also be used in part or in total when c) the renter's event does not meet or exceeds contractual terms (e.g. the event ends one hour later than scheduled.) If none of the preceding conditions occur, then the Security Deposit will be refunded. A security deposit is required for all Brower Center rentals.

What kind of equipment is available at the Brower Center?
The Brower Center offers sustainably designed equipment and furniture at no additional charge. Items are subject to availability and must be reserved in advance.

- (2) 8' x 4' magnetic dry erase board
- (1) Easel & large pad set
- (3) Portable teleconferencing phones (free local calls)
- Projectors (1 floating, 2 fixed), and microphones, including wireless handheld and lavaliere units
- Projection screens in all conference rooms (Inquire for complete A/V list.)
- Secure wired and wireless Internet access
- Tackboard and/ or whiteboard on conference room walls
